Arcangelo nasce ad Avellino nel 1956, frequenta il Liceo Artistico a Benevento e nel 1976 s’iscrive all’accademia di Belle Arti di Roma dove si diploma nel 1980. Nel 1981 si trasferisce a Milano. Nei primi anni Ottanta nasce il ciclo Terra mia. Nel 1984 partecipa alla collettiva Perspective, in occasione della Fiera di Basilea. Seguono le personali alla Galleria Tanit di Monaco di Baviera e alla Galleria Buchmann di Basilea. Nel 1985 prende parte alla collettiva Nuovi Argomenti al P. A.C. di Milano ed espone in mostre personali alla Galleria Janine Mautsch di Colonia, Harald Behm di Amburgo e Klaus Lupke di Francoforte. Nel 1986 prende parte alle collettive XI Quadriennale di Roma, Prospect ’86 alla Kunstverein und Schirn Kunsthalle di Francoforte e Dopo il concettuale al Museo Provinciale d’Arte di Trento. Nel 1987 espone al P.A.C. di Milano e al Museum der Stadt di Esslingen. Nel 1992 espone al Museo d’Arte Moderna di Toulouse, nel Réfectoir des Jacobins. Nel 1993 tiene mostre personali al Centro d’Arte Contemporanea La Ferme du Buisson di Marne-La-Vallée, alla Galleria Municipale d’Arte
Contemporanea di St. Priest, alla Kodama Gallery di Osaka.
Nel 1994 espone alla Galleria Alice Pauli a Losanna. Tra il 1993 e il 1994 espone in Giappone, al Fukuyama Museum of Art e in Francia, al Museé d’art Moderne, Réfectoire des Jacobins di Tolosa e al FRAC Midi-Pyréneés. Nel 1995 organizza Leonkart al C.S.O.A. Leonkavallo di Milano. Nel ’96, alla Galleria Di Meo di Parigi, presenta Le Navi in cera. Durante l’estate nasce il ciclo dei Misteri. Tra il 1996 e il 1997 espone alla Galleria Tanit, alla Otto di Bologna, alla Janine Mautsch di Colonia e alla Galleria Bernard Cats di Bruxelles. Nel 1998 al Caffè Florian di Venezia, espone le sue Anfore di terracotta. Nel 1999 riceve il primo Premio Suzzara di pittura. Nel 2000, presso Lorenzelli Arte, a Milano, tiene la personale Tappeti persiani, sarcofago , anfore. Nell’estate del 2001 nasce il nuovo ciclo dei Sanniti. Alla fine dell’estate del 2001 l’artista dipinge i Feticci e realizza gli Orti in ceramica. Nel 2003 viene pubblicata la monografia Arcangelo (Edizioni Quattroemme, Perugia). Nel 2004 l’artista realizza un progetto installativo per la galleria il Volume! di Roma, pubblica i suoi Monotipi , e, dopo aver dato alle stampe un prezioso volume di incisioni corredato da 14 poesie di Alda Merini, tiene la personale intitolata Lunga notte di stelle sannite presso Lorenzelli Arte a Milano. Infine, una nuova personale di Arcangelo, intitolata Le mie case, si è inaugurata in novembre
2005, presso la Galleria Tanit di Monaco e nel gennaio 2006,

Arcangelo was born in Avellino in 1956. He attends the Art High School in Benevento and in 1976 is enrolled in the School of Fine Arts in Rome where he gets a degree in 1980. In 1981 he moves to Milan. In the early 80’s the collection Terra mia is born. In 1984 he participates in the event Perspective , on the occasion of the Art Fair of Basilea. After that his personal collections at the Gallery Tanit in Munich and at the Gallery Buchmann of Basilea follow. In 1985 he takes part in the collective New Arguments at the P. A. C. of Milan and displays his personal exhibitions at the Gallery Janine Mautsch of Cologne, Harald Behm of Amburg and Klaus Lupke of Frankfurt. In 1986 he takes part in the Collectives XI Quadriennale di Roma , Prospect ’86 at the Kunstverein und Schirn Kunsthalle of Frunkfurt and Dopo il concettuale in the Museo Provinciale d’Arte in Trento. In 1987 he exhibits at the P.A.C. of Milan and at the Museum der Stadt of Esslingen. In 1992 he exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art of Toulouse and in the Réfectoir des Jacobins.
In 1993 he does personal shows at The Center of Contemporary Art of St. Priest, the Kodama Gallery of Osaka. In 1994 he shows at the Gallery Alice Pauli in Losanna. Between
1993 and 1994 he shows in Japan at the Fukuyama Museum of Art and in France at the Museé d’art Moderne Réfectoir des Jacobins of Toulose and at the FRAC Midi-Pyréneés. Between 1996 and 1997 he shows at the Gallery Tanit, to the Otto Gallery of Bologna, to the Janine Mautsch of Colonia and at the Gallery Bernard Cats of Bruxelles. In 1998 at the Caffe’ Florian of Venice, he exposes his Anfore of terra-cotta. In 1999 he is awarded his first Suzzarra price for painting. In 2000, at Lorenzelli Art, in Milan, the exhibition Tappeti Persiani, sarcofago, anfore takes place. In the summer 2001 the new cycle of Sanniti is born. Toward the end of the summer 2001 the artist paints the Feticci and he realizes the Orti in ceramic. In 2003 the monography Arcangelo (Edizione Quattro Emme, Perugia) is published. In 2004 the artist realizes a project for the Gallery Volume! of Rome and he publishes his Monotipi. After having prepared a precious volume of engraving with 14 poetries of Alda Merini, he presents the exhibition entitled Lunga notte di stelle sannite, at Lorenzelli Art in Milan. Finally, a new opera of Arcangelo, entitled Le mie case, is introduced in November 2005, at the Gallery Tanit in Munich and Le case delle donne scelte , in January 2006, at the Otto Gallery in Bologna.
