Studio Azzurro è un gruppo di ricerca artistica, che si esprime con i linguaggi delle nuove tecnologie. E stato fondato nel 1982 da Fabio Cirifino (fotografia), Paolo Rosa (arti visive e cinema) e Leonardo Sangiorgi (grafica e animazione). Nel 1995 si è unito al gruppo Stefano Roveda, esperto in sistemi interattivi.
Da più di venti anni, Studio Azzurro indaga le possibilità
poetiche ed espressive di questi mezzi

che così tanto incidono nelle relazioni di questa epoca. Attraverso videoambienti, ambienti sensibili e interattivi, performance teatrali e film, ha segnato un percorso che è riconosciuto in tutto il mondo, grazie a numerose e importanti esposizioni e spettacoli. Oltre che in opere sperimentali, l’attività del gruppo si lega ad esperienze più divulgative come la progettazione di musei e di esposizioni
tematiche, di riconosciuto valore culturale. Attraverso esse, senza rinunciare alla ricerca, ha tentato di costruire un contesto comunicativo che veda una attiva e significativa partecipazione dello spettatore all’interno di un impianto narrativo, ispirato a una ipertestualità e ad una continua oscillazione tra elementi reali e virtuali.

Fanno parte di Studio Azzurro: Fabio Cirifino, Paolo Rosa, Stefano Roveda e Leonardo Sangiorgi, inoltre collaborano: Antonio Augugliaro, Marco Barsottini, Alberto Bernocchi Missaglia, Reiner Bumke, Mario Coccimiglio, Ornella Costanzo, Laura D’Amore, Anna De Benedittis, Daniele De Palma, Laura Gatta, Elisa Giardina Papa, Tommaso Leddi, Silvia Pellizari, Lorenzo Sarti, Emanuele Siboni, Delphine Tonglet.

Studio Azzurro is a group of artistical research, which espresses itself by means of the new thcnologies languages. It was founded in 1982 by da Fabio Cirifino (photography), Paolo Rosa (visual arts and cinema) and Leonardo Sangiorgi (graphic and animation). In 1995, Stefano Roveda, expert on interactive systems, joined the group. For over twenty years, Studio Azzurro has been investigating the poetical and expressive possibilities of these technological systems that have a very important impact on the relations of this time. Through the creation of video-environments, sensitive and interactive environments, theatrical performances and film it has blazed a trail that is recognised worldwide, thanks to the many significant exhibitions and shows it has produced. Beyond its experimental work, the group’s activities are also connected to more didactic work such as the design of museums and thematic exhibitions whose cultural worth is well attested. Through
these experiences, without renouncing to its groundbreaking attitude, the group has tried to set up communication systems that require an active and significant participation on behalf of the spectator within the narrative structure, based on an iper-textual approach and a continuous shift between real and virtual elements.

Beyond Fabio Cirifino, Paolo Rosa, Stefano Roveda and Leonardo Sangiorgi other people belong to Studio Azzurro with different roles: Antonio Augugliaro, Marco Barsottini, Alberto Bernocchi Missaglia, Reiner Bumke, Mario Coccimiglio, Ornella Costanzo, Laura D’Amore, Anna De Benedittis, Daniele De Palma, Laura Gatta, Elisa Giardina Papa, Tommaso Leddi, Silvia Pellizari, Lorenzo Sarti, Emanuele Siboni, Delphine Tonglet.

(quello che sappiamo da sempre)
I posti hanno un’anima. Noi lo sappiamo da tempo,
da molto tempo…da sempre.
Lo sappiamo che dentro il cuore pulsante di un luogo,
risuona la voce delle acque e il murmure ventoso.
Sappiamo che il respiro della terra produce messaggi,
e lamenti, e rimproveri.
Che i posti sono tavole imbandite, tavole senza padroni, dove gli affamati trovano cibo, basta raccoglierlo, basta piegarsi a seminarlo…
Sappiamo che questo non è il mondo che volevamo,
ma quello che abbiamo.
La sua differenza la fa, altrochè se la fa.
Perché da qualche parte qualche cosa si è rotto: a quelle tavole mangiano in pochi.
E respira affannato questo posto. E la sua anima è un
cristallo incrinato.

(What we know since forever)
The places have a soul. We know this since long,
long time…since forever.
We know that inside a throbbing heart of a place vibrates the voice of the waters and of the wind.
We know that the breath of the earth produces
messages, and whimpers and reprimands.
The places are set up tables, without owners,
where the starving people find food,
you just need to harvest and spread it.
We know that this is not the world that we wanted,
but the world that we have.
There is a difference, there is a big difference.
Because somewhere something has broken: just few people are eating now at those tables.
And this place breaths restless. And its soul is an
oblique crystal.
